Around 8 p.m. tonight, District 5 officers were called to the 5700 block of Waterman for a report of a male suspect threatening a woman with a gun at a residence. As officers arrived, they located the suspect and woman arguing on a porch. At that point, the suspect shot the woman in front of the officers, which led to an exchange of gunfire with one of the responding officers. The suspect was struck. The officer was not injured. The suspect’s gun was recovered. The suspect and woman were transported to a hospital. The woman has died. The suspect is in critical and unstable condition.
